Pause

Just a small time out today to re-post something important  -

"My biggest Wedding Week Truth:
I am getting married. And I am having a wedding. And those two truths are different.
The only thing that really matters about Friday is that I get to stand up with James and pinkie-promise to love and respect him as my best friend and confidant and partner in crime, every day, until happily ever after, the end. Making that promise has absolutely nothing to do with the wedding. Making that promise involves the two of us being ready and willing and resolute and committed to keeping that promise each morning when we wake up and each night when we go to bed. No centerpieces required.
Getting Married is our Because. The Wedding is the frosting.
Realizing that the marriage and the celebration can be looked at as separate things… It brought order back into my world. Birds sang. The sun shone. My mother’s voice stopped sounding like nails on a chalkboard. The question that had been railing me was answered. I knew why I was jumping through hoops and tolerating stress and making all these compromises. Because my marriage to this man is going to be the most amazing thing I ever create.
(And coming from the girl who made hundreds of origami flowers, that’s something.)
That’s the beauty of Wedding Week. You have to sift through the rest of it, and play chicken against the clock… But when you get this close, you can see the beautiful divide between The Marriage and The Wedding. And your priorities sing through, clear as day. And then Your Groom will smile at you, and you’ll realize that it really is all worth it. All the agony and the isolation and the blisters and the broken nails and the nervous twitch you have when someone says “hot glue.”
None of it will endure in the same fashion as your love for one another.
That’s what you see, when you’re forty eight hours away from your wedding. You see your first glimpse of Forever."

Raise your hand if you love Paper Straws!

They are no recent obsession, but I realized that I've never talked about the incredible cuteness that is paper straws. I'm such a sucker for little details. Come on, jump up here on the striped straw bandwangon everyone!
pictures found here and here

Did I mention that they are biodegradable (score one for the environment) and come in a really nifty array of colors??

What do you think, is their overwhelming cuteness an excuse enough to buy some?? Wouldn't our bar be so cute with paper straws?? Especially in old fashioned cokes??

And luckily, they are not only ridiculously cute and biodegradable, but they are affordable!
Paper straws are all over Etsy and here at Art Fire

Tell me you agree, that they are a must have!

Oh Gosh

This is one of the cutest parties I have seen in awhile. Cake, champagne, and cute shoes?? What an incredible  theme! It would be perfect for a birthday party or a bridal shower. I'm dying to throw this grey and pink girly party! (download the invite here!)

I adore ranunculus and those vases are so adorable - what an easy diy project! Who wants to make some with me??

And I shouldn't have to remind you just how much I love Sophia champagne :-)

Check out the rest of the party pictures here on Green Wedding Shoes - and please ladies, who wants to let me throw this party for them??

Be still my heart

I know I have written one short post on my love for kraft paper envelopes - but when I saw these envelopes with white calligraphy -  my heart stopped for one little minute. If I had the budget, this is exactly something I would splurge on.

Found right here, as an envelope for a baby announcement.
Beautiful

Sports Bars

Did you meet your hubby to be at a baseball game? Or did you start dating in college and therefore spent plenty of time together, freezing cold on football sidelines? Do you both live for basketball season and buy tickets to Vegas for March Madness every year?  If your fiancĂ© and his friends are anything like mine, sports bars and college bars are some of their favorite places to be...so, why not make your wedding bar tailored to them? (after all, I'd bet that group of boys will spend more time at the bar than any of your other guests!)

While surfing around wedding sites recently, I spotted something pretty cool - a themed bar at a wedding! In that case, it was an NFL team - the bar was decorated in pennants, a "Go Bears!" sign, matching plastic beer cups, etc. This got me thinking...and I'm thinking its a really cool idea. Most of the time wedding bars get a little ignored by decorations, despite it being one of the most trafficked areas of your reception - what sense does that make? Instead (or in addition to) a grooms cake, pick his favorite sports team and decorate your wedding bar accordingly! Wouldn't your guests love that?

Nate studied undergrad at the University of Washington so we have spent a fair amount of time yelling "Go Dawgs!" in the 6 years we have been together and he also has worked in the Mariners club house for the past 4 seasons - so Seattle baseball is a pretty big deal to us (in fact, I'm wearing a Mariners shirt as I type this). So, I can picture it being really cool if I decorated our wedding reception bar with one or both teams.

Want to see what I'm thinking??

My Favorite Bouquets

We are just a few short weeks away from the official first day of Spring and let me tell you, I seriously cannot wait. I am so over the dreary, cold, overcast Seattle Fall and Winter.... bring on the sunshine! One of my most favorite things to do in the Spring and Summer is head down to Pikes Place and pick out a huge bouquet of seasonal flowers - so in hopes that I can somehow speed up Spring time, here are some of my most favorite wedding bouquets!

Can you tell I'm partial to pink penonies??
Which was your favorite?

Silhouettes

What do you think about using personalized silhouettes (cameos) in your wedding? You could incorporate them on your stationary, as decoration, and on your website! I'm a big fan of brides who make a small detail such as a monogram, pattern, or in this case silhouettes to really make their weddings feel cohesive. Honestly, I'm really loving them!

Here are some invites and programs from Chris and Sally's wedding -

A Save the Date I adore from Mr. Boddington -

From Lauren and Michaels wedding -

And this "Will you be my bridesmaid" is way too much! (in a very, very good way) -

And finally, a very simple yet perfect wedding invite

What do you think? Do you love them as much as I do?
